Bruce
L. Neufeld was born on August 28, 1951 to Abe E. and
Lenora Bartel Neufeld. He passed away on February
17, 2006. He was a lifetime resident of Inman, KS
and owner of Bruce’s Woodworking. He was also
an owner and operator for the Neufeld Brothers Custom
Harvesting for more than 20 years. Bruce was a brother
to Keith (wife Sally), Doug (wife Pam) and Nancy (husband
Larry Schroeder). He was also a cherished part of
his step-mother’s, Ruth, life.
Bruce is remembered
by people for all the many wood projects, which include
small and large furniture, craft items, etc. These
were made for fellow harvesters, friends at John Deere
Company, local businesses, other friends and family.
Some of the items include a conference table at the
USCHI office. Also, a small Texas plaque illustrating
the wet weather we all experienced at the beginning
of the 1992 wheat harvest. The plaques were made for
other harvesters during the long wait for sunshine.
He amazed
people with his ability to operate combines in spite
of his physical limitations. These limitations include
a small stature and limited lung capacity because
of scoliosis. His particular attitude contributed
to the growth of the harvesting business which he
was a part of. Bruce’s faith in God left an
impression on all the customers and friends that he
met through his lifetime harvesting experience.
Bruce’s
family was a large part of his life. He was compassionate
for all who hurt and had a big heart for children.
Because he never had children of his own, he became
everyone’s uncle - and a good one at that! He
had a way to make everyone feel important. His support
for his nieces and nephews included attending sporting
events, school programs and church programs.
Bruce was
an active member of the Bethel Mennonite Church, where
he served many years as an adult Sunday school teacher.
He assisted in worship services as a member of the
audio system team and was also a member of the Evangelism
and Missions Board. Bruce loved the Lord and very
seldom missed an opportunity to meet with other believers
for worship and fellowship. “The one thing I
have learned is the shortness, fragileness, and weakness
of our life, and how important our relationship with
Jesus is” - written by Bruce in his 2005 Christmas
letter.
Bruce made
an impact on his world, family and friends. He will
be missed!
